In the mid 1600s, the leaders of a small Moravian town ordered their Master Executioner to open 31 graves in the churchyard. The medical examiners? conclusion was that 21 corpses were to be hacked into pieces and burnt, the ashes dispersed in a nearby river. The villagers shuffled their feet and stared into the sky to avoid the gaze of the priest. Everyone knew why but no one wanted to admit the knowledge. The healer was gone and her husband was in chains; no amount of discussion would change that. It was almost the age of Enlightenment and speaking about it would have been in poor taste anyway.

CABARET MACABRE has been terrorizing audiences throughout central and eastern Europe for over 400 years with theatrical dramas sucked from the lifeblood and folklore of violent centuries, retelling ghastly legends in the form of a musical horror show. Even after their untimely deaths during the great vampire terror of Peklovice in 1743, this talented group of actors and musicians refused to let mortality stand in the way of theatrical ambition. So they have been haunting the stages of Prague's most prestigious back-alley drinking establishments ever since that horrible night of carnage.

KATATONIKA is a rock n roll film noir theatre experience, a story of extras from action films crime dramas. These are Shakespeare?s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Unwitting pawns. They are us. People who live, work, steal, lie, cheat, then die. Normal people, no matter what their jobs or careers may be, are in one way or another, gangsters. We don?t necessarily like what we do or whom we are with, but we do it because society has told us to. And what we do makes money. We have jobs, we have money, we take money, we steal money, we lie, and we live on... or not. It's the story of people who do what they do because they don?t know any better or, if they do, they don't care.

A cast of patients from the mental clinic of Charenton never before on stage would like to you invite you to the play written by our own Marquis de Sade, who has kindly written this play for us about the bloodbaths of the French Revolution and the life and murder of Jean Paul Marat, a leading figure in the French Revolution in 1793. Of course today in 1808 we look back on this horrible incident with ease, for we are more civiliz...ed. Or are we...
